Zuckerberg! Airplay! And Other Stories We Didn't Post [Video]

Zuckerberg! Airplay! And Other Stories We Didn't PostSo much news passes before our collective eyes every day that we couldn't possibly cover it all. Mostly because much of it isn't worth covering! But here are a some borderline tidbits we passed on, just in case.

Zuckerberg! Airplay! And Other Stories We Didn't Post

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was joined by the Big Bosses from Google, Amazon, Apple, Square, Netflix and oh my god who cares. It's basically a list of the CEOs of every tech company worth talking about except for Microsoft, ranked maybe in order of hairstyle? Dunno. [Vanity Fair]

The iW1 was announced alllll the way back at CES. And now it's coming out in three weeks. So if you've been waiting desperately since January for the day that you could safely say you were three weeks away from these particular $300 speakers being available, well, today is that day.

There is a wonderful story behind this Chipotle ad (seriously!) over at FastCo Design, and you should go read it. There is also apparently a video that shows off the process behind making the video, and we would have posted that, except that it's listed as private. Thems, as they say, the breaks. Sony's SA-NS 500 AirPlay Speaker: Room-Filling Sound from a Lampshade [Speakers]

Sony's SA-NS 500 AirPlay Speaker: Room-Filling Sound from a LampshadeSony's new AirPlay-ready, lampshade-looking SA-NS 500 portable speaker looks like it's going to be pretty good. The SA-NS 500 has a four speaker array, a mid-range subwoofer, and gets 5-6 hours of battery life.

It also supports party streaming, which lets you play the same audio on multiple devices across multiple rooms—similar to a Sonos system—and can be controlled by Android and iPhone apps (no WP7 for now). It'll be available for $400—the same price as the Sonos Play:5—in October. [ThisIsMyNext]

Bowers & Wilkins Gives Its Customers a Special AirPlay Party Mode [Apps]

Bowers & Wilkins Gives Its Customers a Special AirPlay Party ModeAirplay's pretty great, right? You can zap whatever music you like on over to your compatible device. Fun. Great. Just one problem: Only one person can be AirPlayin' at any given time. Minor quibble? Maybe, but it's a tad antisocial.

Think about it: Your friend wants to show off his knowledge of the Greenpoint IndyFolk scene by playing a song over your Wi-Fi-savvy device. No problem. Until you want to one-up him by playing something else—he's got to hand the connection over.

One more reason to wish we were rich enough to own the fabulous $600 iPod dock that is theB&W Zeppelin Air:: Starting today, it has a special app that lets multiple people jump on its AirPlay feed at the same time. It's kind of like a closed-circuit turntable.fm, allowing anyone who has the app to hop on the airwaves and play songs from their iOS device's music library. And whoever starts the session has veto power.

The app will work with any AirPlay product right now, so you can bet your fanciest shoes that Apple will ape the functionality in a future iTunes build, destroying yet another of its partners' competitive advantages.
