iMessage Probably Coming to iChat [Apple]

iMessage Probably Coming to iChatiMessage is going to take the last thing BlackBerry had going for it—unlimited messaging with delivery tracking. And now it's going to be even better, MacRumors reports, giving you access to your computer-bound friends via iChat.

This is awesome, awesome news if it pans out based on the dug up code clues (and there's no reason to think it won't). With the addition of iChat, iMessage goes from a text killer to a ubiquitous communications network. The moments when we aren't around either a phone or computer are few and far between. If iMessage spreads across both, you'll be able to hit up the people you know almost all the time. Message your buddy while he's on the train to work, then continue the conversation when he's at his desk. Bring it on. [MacRumors]

Thunderbolt Is Coming to Windows in 2012 [Thunderbolt]

Thunderbolt Is Coming to Windows in 2012During his keynote address at IDF this morning, Intel vice president and Kangol enthusiast Mooly Eden confirmed that the revolutionary Thunderbolt I/O technology will be making the jump from Macs to PCs when as-of-yet unidentified Asus and Acer models ship in the first half of 2012.

When Apple introduced Thunderbolt earlier this year, PC owners were left out of the high-speed data transfer party, the new I/O technology being an Apple exclusive. But now, with Thunderbolt running on both Mac and PCs—at double the throughput of the latest USB iteration—is there room left in the world for USB 3.0? [Intel]

Droid Bionic Coming September 8th, According to New Leaks [Android]

Droid Bionic Coming September 8th, According to New LeaksDroid Bionic, where have you been? You've been teasing us since January, and now that you're finally coming, will people care or will you be out-shone by others who got to the party sooner and look at least as pretty?

Droid-Life has scooped up a bunch of docs that show the Motorola Droid Bionic hitting Verizon on September 8th. It looks to pack in some very sweet features like video-chat over Google Talk (which means you can video chat with anyone that has Gmail), an 8MP camera "with improved low-light performance", and tons of accessories (including a laptop dock). Now Android Central has confirmed that Costco will be launching it on the 8th as well. It certainly looks like a killer phone, but who's going to grab it and who's going to snub it for arriving so ridiculously late? Did Motorola/Verizon wait too long, and now the Droid/Nexus Prime is too close? (check the gallery for the leaked images) [Droid-Life and Android Central]

The New Bestest Android Phone Is Finally Coming to America: The Samsung Galaxy S II [Galaxy]

The New Bestest Android Phone Is Finally Coming to America: The Samsung Galaxy S IIThe Samsung Galaxy S II is the blueprint for the next generation of Android phones. And now it's finally coming to the US, on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile.

Only Sprint's announced the price and date so far, and they're first out of the gate: Sept. 16 for $200 (with 2-year contract). AT&T's saying Septemberish for an undetermined amount of bills, and T-Mobile touting availability "this fall."

There are, as with the last around of Galaxy phones that hit every carrier, some differences between the bunch. For instance! AT&T's Galaxy has a 4.3-inch screen, but Sprint and T-Mobile are pushing a monstrous 4.52-inch display that makes it officially giant-sized, like the Infuse 4G. Also, names. Sprint's is going by the Epic Touch 4G. I suspect AT&T and T-Mobile will come up with their own wacky names too.

It is the thinnest 4G smartphone on any of the three networks. Its processor is capable of recording 1080p at the highest bitrate of any smartphone on the market.

TouchWiz 3.0 has undergone some refinement. The chicklet tiles are gone (pressure from Apple, I wonder?). Easier to organize files into folders than before by grouping files into folders within the app drawer itself. The UI is definitely cleaner and looks slightly less toy-like.

Their SocialHub has gotten better. It aggregates your various social networks, but actually gives you a fair amount of control from within it. For example, on a Facebook post, you can like it, comment on it, share it, etc. right from within the SocialHub.

MediaHub will allow you to manage premium content from your phone, and you can connect via HDMI to any HDTV and get full DVD quality for movies. This was sticky before with DRM restrictions, but it looks like they've found a way around that. Watching HD content on a large TV looks very good. Samsung Kies Air allows you to control and edit the content (music, photos, video, etc) on your device from any computer, over the air, via a web browser.

Full specs below.

Specs
4.52 inches on Sprint and T-Mobile; 4.3 inches on AT&T
1.2GHz Samsung Exynos dual-core processor
1GB RAM
16GB internal storage
8MP rear-facing camera with auto-focus, flash, and 1080p video
2MP front-facing camera
microSD storage to 32GB
3g/4G Mobile Hotspot capabilities
Visual Voicemail
Bluetooth 3.0
Thickness: 0.38 inches (Sprint); 0.35 inches (AT&T); T-Mobile N/A

Is the TouchPad Coming Back to Best Buy? [Best Buy]

Is the TouchPad Coming Back to Best Buy?It all happened so fast. First Best Buy denied being able to sell the HP's all-but-dead tablet during last weekend's firesale. A few days later they did, selling out quick. Now reports say they have more to sell. What gives?

According to Droid Matters, Best Buy employees have gotten memos letting them know that they can expect new shipments of TouchPads in the coming week. Customers will allegedly be given the opportunity to fill out a form that'll allow the store to let them know when the tablets come in.

Which is great! Except it's not totally clear if this applies to all Best Buys nationwide or just select stores. And there's no mention of how sales will be handled online. All I know is I don't feel like standing in line in the next state over just for a TouchPad. I'm not sure if it's that worth it. [Droid Matters via TechCrunch]

Google+ Posts Coming Soon to Gmail [Google]

Google+ Posts Coming Soon to GmailGoogle is gradually rolling out a new Gmail people widget that lets you view recent Google+ posts within Gmail.

To see these Google+ posts from the sender of an email, you have to be a Google+ member and the sender has to include you in a circle. This limits what you see, but Google may relax some of these requirements when its social network goes public.

This feature is gradually rolling out so if you don't have this Google+ integration yet, be patient. It's coming soon. [Mark Striebeck]
