Marlango: Maybe [Video]

Marlango: Maybe Here's some weird Spanish music that is not in Spanish: Marlango. Fans of Tom Waits may recognize some of his influence here and there. Instead of Tom's whiskey voice, however, you have Leonor Watling's milk and honey.

Maybe is one of my favorite songs, from their debut album Marlango. A dreamy poem dedicated to fleeting love and the first notes of a new romantic relationship. The rest of the album has many beautiful gems, like It's All Right, I Suggest, Enjoy The Ride or Nico—some of my favorite Marlango songs for rainy days at home.

"For once, my love/ I'll take the beginning/ with no end in mind," Leonor sings. We should always do that.

Enjoy your weekend. [iTunes, Spotify, Amazon]

Sprint Changes Upgrade Policy Before Maybe (Probably) Getting the iPhone [Sprint]

Sprint Changes Upgrade Policy Before Maybe (Probably) Getting the iPhoneNot all of Sprint's machinations ahead of likely offering the iPhone this October are bad. A few weeks after nearly doubling its early termination fee, Sprint is dropping the qualifying time for its upgrade plan from 22 months to 20, starting October 2nd.

The change will enable more users to switch to the iPhone at its assumed early-October launch. And there's nothing wrong with quicker upgrades, whether you want an iPhone or not. That's the good news.

The not so good news is Sprint also dropped its Premier program at the beginning of this month, claiming it needed to to invest in unlimited data and being able to offer new devices (like the iPhone). Premier gave longstanding customers benefits like discounts on accessories and plan checkups. It's also reduced the return period for handsets from 30 days to 14. Which kind of sucks, but if you're a Sprint customer, you'd probably take that over a compromise on unlimited data.

Regardless, Sprint joining other carriers in targeting late-September and early-October with special offers almost definitely means it's gearing up to offer the iPhone. [Electronistsa]

So an iPhone 9 Concept, Maybe? [Video]

So an iPhone 9 Concept, Maybe? Just to be clear: this does not purport to be anything like the iPhone 5. In fact, it almost certainly isn't. But I can still hope in my secret heart that we'll be seeing an iPhone like this someday, right?

The only feature showcased in this CGI, just-for-kicks mockup by Aatma Studio here that may actually show up in the next iPhone is the full-width display, although that razor-thinness is tantalizing, too. But wait, no, it's not about that. Comparing this to any real idea of the iPhone 5 is like comparing your dream of Abraham Lincoln to an actual photograph of Abraham Lincoln and being reminded that Real Lincoln's beard is shorter and his hat is crookeder and he doesn't shoot justice lasers from his eyeballs.

So let's enjoy this concept, not compare it against an upcoming product that, thought it may not exist, at least has taken some realistic shape in our minds. Let's think of this adorable dollop, with its festive but impractical keyboard and holographs, like we do the horizon: distant, familiar, hopeful, out of reach. [The Next Web]
