Lederhosen. Laptop. Sleeve. [Notebooks]

I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that I need to shut up as you let the wonderful of the world's first lederhosen MacBook sleeve wash over you. Sure, fine, getting out of your way.

Okay, you all good? This thing makes no sense at all and it's delightful for it. CoverBee wants you to know it's modeled after genuine Bavarian Lederhosen, which is traditionaohmygodIdon'tcareit's PANTS. For. My. MacBook. German pants. Fancy German pants! The pants-sleeve's made to fit a 13-inch MacBook Pro, but it hugged our 13-inch MacBook Air more or less fine once we tightened the functioning suspender straps(!!). It also comes in 10-, 15-, and 17-inch big-boy sizes, and there are even pockets for your accessories.

The Leder-sleeve is $200, which is a little steep, but if you're not at least a little charmed by this wonderful thing I hope someone clogs you in the face. [CoverBee]

Samsung's New Notebooks Are Super Skinny MacBook Clones (and Look Damn Good) [Laptops]

Samsung's New Notebooks Are Super Skinny MacBook Clones (and Look Damn Good)Samsung's heavy borrowing of Apple's design is pretty established by now—they're getting the shit sued out of them for it! But, undeterred, they're dropping the new Series 7 notebook, with wonderfully thin bezel, Apple looks, and great specs.

The Series 7 is only 0.9 inches thick, but the tiny bezel's what catches my attention: only 0.25 inches. That's a gorgeous thing to have in front of your face. Underneath all that brushed aluminum are some pretty damn good guts for the price: a 2.2-GHz Core i7 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 750 GB (mechanical) harddrive, AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics, and two USB 3.0 ports. For $1,300? Very nice. It may be a MacBook ripoff, but I'd like to see Apple ripoff that price. [BusinessWire via Laptop Mag]

MSI X460 and X460DX notebooks announced

by Edwin - on August 17th, 2011

MSI has a couple of notebooks up for the masses – and we’re looking at the X460 and X460DX models, where they are both 14? mobile powerhouses that target professionals who are always on the go. Being part of the X Series of ultra-slim notebooks, you can be sure that both units will run on the latest Intel Core processors which are not short on processing horsepower, not to mention coming with a choice between an integrated Intel GMA HD or nVidia GeForce GT540M video card, with Microsoft Windows 7 as the operating system of choice right out of the box.

Since they say that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, MSI does not want all of the Jacks (and Jills, I suppose) end up being dull, cubicle loving drones. No sir, your ears will also be treated to the inclusion of THX TruStudio PRO so that movies and music that you watch and listen to will sound all the more realistic and thumping.

Another interesting addition to these notebooks would be the inclusion of Intel Wireless Display (WiDi) 2.0, where the X460 model will let you hook up your notebook to any TV unit over a standard Wi-Fi connection – letting you live out the wireless lifestyle with ease. There are three distinct configurations to choose from, but common hardware specifications include a couple of high speed USB 3.0 ports to help keep them future proof to a certain extent, HDMI connectivity so that you can watch Full HD movies on a big screen TV when connected, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam that ought to let you hold some decent video calls without missing a beat.

As usual, a standard 1-year warranty will accompany your purchases – with prices starting from $799.99 a pop, it does look like a rather attractive proposition, as it is a step up from the basic mobile workstation model that you get from other manufacturers.
