David Gilmour: Dimming Of The Day [Video]

David Gilmour: Dimming Of The Day After a hectic day and even more hectic one tomorrow, it's quiet now. And I'm working alone on a cool, rainy fall evening listening to my favorite rendition of Dimming of the Day.

This is a new song for me. I stumbled upon this gem a few weeks ago while clicking through some random playlists on Rdio. It's a lot slower than most of the music that I listen to, but I can't stop listening to it. Maybe its the lyrics (I can relate to the old house falling around my ears) or the bouncy, yet melancholy music that grabbed me and wont let go.

The original version was written by folk singer Richard Thompson for his wife Linda and it's a classic, but this rendition from David Gilmour is just perfect. It has a smooth acoustic sound that I love. And it's refreshing to hear the Pink Floyd lead sing something so folksy. I'd say he pulls it off quite nicely. Don't you think?
