This Stormtrooper Helmet Is Made Completely Out of Sneakers [Star Wars]

This Stormtrooper Helmet Is Made Completely Out of SneakersThis helmet was made for Star Wars Remix out of actual Adidas Star Wars skate shoes. It's completely fit to wear. You can even buy it. I think I just might, too.

This is the spiritual successor to the milk jug stormtrooper helmet of yesteryear. It's beautiful. The perfect companion would be a DeLorean made completely out of Nike Air Mags. It could happen! [Star Wars Remix via Hypebeast]

Inflatable Bicycle Helmet or Unused Prop from an Alien Movie? [Design]

Inflatable Bicycle Helmet or Unused Prop from an Alien Movie?I really can't tell if this model's beautiful life is about to be saved or snuffed out by some kind of bulbous brain sucker.

The description makes it sound like an inflatable bike helmet but that could be because the writer had one on his or her head as well, and it was controlling their actions, because that's what these bulbous brain suckers do.

I'll err on the side of sanity and say this is a bike helmet, and that it was one of five projects that won an award at INDEX this year. Called Hövding, the design is the work of Anna Haupt and Terese Alstin, and apparently erupts from the scarf around your neck when "it senses abnormal movement."

Yeah, anyway, for some reason or another I have this little suspicion that this helmet could be an example of form over function. Just a tad. [Dezeen]

An LED Helmet For The Techno Viking [Video]

An LED Helmet For The Techno Viking This techno viking helmet created by Garrett Mace is just so cool you'll want to make one for your next party.

The helmet has colored LEDs and pairs them with bundles of fiber optic strands. Together, they cause the mohawk to glow. An Arduino controller is added to the mix and now you have a mohawk that changes color in response to ambient music.

Check out the video above to see the helmet in action and hop over to Mace's blog for details on how he assembled it. [Macetech via Hack a Day]

Did The SEALS Who Shot Bin Laden Have Helmet Cams Or Not? [War]

Did The SEALS Who Shot Bin Laden Have Helmet Cams Or Not?Remember how Navy SEAL Team Six caught the entire raid on Bin Laden's compound on helmet cams? Yeah, well, that may not have happened. It's just one of multiple unexplained discrepancies from the raid.

As Mother Jones notes, initial reports and follow up in-depth reporting all mentioned that the SEALS were wearing helmet cams. Yet in Nicholas Schmidle's gripping account in the New Yorker, helmet cams were notably absent. As Schmidle reports "The SEALs were not wearing helmet cams, contrary to a widely cited report by CBS."

While that may seem a minor detail, it's key to many others. If there is helmet cam footage, it can answer lots of key questions. Was Bin Laden armed? Did he use his wives or daughters as a human shield? What exactly went down? Like Mother Jones, I'm certain I'll never see that footage myself, but it seems important to know whether or not it exists and if so, who has (or has had) access to it.
