Verizon Supports the Pending AT&T/T-Mobile Takeover [Verizon]

Verizon Supports the Pending AT&T/T-Mobile TakeoverThere are many companies and individuals opposed to AT&T's proposed takeover of T-Mobile, but Verizon isn't among them. CEO Lowell McAdam voiced support for AT&T, saying mergers like this should be allowed if they government can't provide the spectrum telcos need.

Here's the direct quote McAdam delivered at an investors conference, (and reported by BGR):

"It had to occur, because you had a company with a T-Mobile that had the spectrum but didn't have the capital to build it out. AT&T needed the spectrum, they didn't have it in order to take care of their customers, and so that match had to occur."

Sounds like someone wants to keep alive the possibility of swallowing up the smaller Sprint should the occasion prove itself necessary. [BGR]
